There are many ways to help increase your pet's chances of finding home again in the unlikely situation that your pet becomes lost. Here are a few steps you can take right at T.A.H.!
1. Get A Microchip: Microchipping is an efficient way to know your pet is identifiable if they ever go astray. It offers a level of permanency that collars and tags cannot. The HomeAgain microchip (used at T.A.H.), the size of a single grain of rice, is placed under your pet’s skin. The chip holds your pet's identification number, readable by a scanner, which HomeAgain uses to access the contact information you provided. The information on the chip is updateable so no matter where you move, your pet can come home to you. You can either choose to have the chip implanted during your pet's next surgery (spay, neuter, declaw, etc.), or just swing by and have it implanted by one of our licensed technicians! For less than $75.00, you can have a lifetime of security.
4. Let Us Know: Many pets are returned to their owners just because somebody let us know! The owners report the pet is lost so that we can post a flyer on our "Lost & Found" board. Then, the person that finds the pet calls us so we may post that it is found. We see many success stories by simply matching these two calls together. Also, utilize social media and K-100's Lost & Found page to get the word out quickly!
These four easy and inexpensive steps can make a safer and more enjoyable summer for your entire family. Stop in to take advantage of these life saving precautions!
